My work is not my life

I casually brought up the fact that I don’t like when people ask me what I do for a job, or how it’s going. I also admitted that I’m actually not sure what many people in my life do for a job. This is not because I don’t care, I just don’t think to ask. It’s also because I’m not a fan of small talk and would rather get to the good stuff in a conversation.
